Description:
Another relevant installation was carried out in Fort-de-France: a second self-cleaning public toilet, our model CIAO, equipped with S4 technology, made by SANO2PAQUET for SERCO. This project stands out for its aesthetics, at the same time bold and contemporary – designed to become a reference point in the urban fabric.
A modern touch it’s given by the external cladding of this structure, made with intense red Vogue tiles, measuring 20×40 cm, with 2 mm joints in light grey. This colour choice gives the installation a modern and elegant look, creating a captivating visual contrast with the surrounding architecture. The colour red, a symbol of energy and dynamism, has been chosen also to enhance structure visibility and facilitate its fast identification, an important aspect for its public function.
S4 technology guarantees an advanced self-cleaning system. The facility ‒ manufactured by our parent company Prefabbricati Santerno, a leader in precast product‒ is equipped with an automated sanitisation process, including washing and disinfection of toilet bowl, sink and floor. This solution drastically reduces contamination risks, making it perfect for an intensive usage in urban environments.
For what concerns durability, the structure was made in vibrated reinforced concrete and it is designed to resist usage as well as Martinique weather conditions. Fittings are made of 316L stainless steel: this material is known for its high resistance to corrosion, granting it a long lifespan even in maritime environments characterised by high humidity and salinity.
Its vandal-resistant air-conditioning system, installed both in the public area and the technical room, improves users’ comfort by keeping an enjoyable temperature even in the hottest and most humid days of tropical season.
Accessibility is guaranteed to able-bodied and reduced mobility users alike. Access to this automatic public toilet is safe and easy thanks to an instruction slate and its sliding doors. To get out, it will suffice to use the no-touch control that activates the door, which will open automatically.
This installation does not only represent an improvement in accessibility to public toilets, it is also a concrete example of urban innovation, thanks to the integration of advanced technology, safety, comfort and a design conceived to improve the whole city.
