Description: The energy crisis led everyone to change their habits. One of the most blatant measures taken from our society finds its focus on the innovation in the field of transports. Indeed, the fact that e-cars are the future, if not the present (just think about Sweden or the Netherlands), is already known. According to many studies electric transports are the best way to reduce our carbon footprint, since their sustainability has increased thanks to new technologies that have improved the duration of the batteries. Over the next few years, we are to be expecting an exponential increase in the field of e-cars, which will lead as a consequence to the need of new charge stations.
IONITY set itself the goal of creating a European network of high-power charge station for e-vehicles in order to encourage long-distance trips. The time of recharge depends on the type of vehicle, but if the “quick recharge” is available, then the amount of waiting time is 25 minutes on average. Thus, it is necessary to provide the stations of some comfort for the users such as, for example, public toilets. For this purpose, IONITY and SANO2 are doing a common pilot project in order to create a snugger environment for everyone. Indeed, the project includes two rooms: one for able-bodied and the other for disabled.
Since the IONITY charging stations are completely unstaffed and 24-hour available, SANO2 has been chosen for the furniture and management of the self-cleaning restrooms, equipped with an automatic cleaning and disinfection system, that turns on after every use. Every toilet is provided of a paid access through contact-less cards or app. The configuration of each toilet will depend on the regulation of the installation county and can be modified basing on the local needs.
SANO2 has available many different technologies that can be adapted to every situation The S4-tehnology was therefore chose for this purpose. The S4-toilets are fully vandal-proof thanks to their new-generation security systems and the telemetry system, which allows the remote management and maintenance through desktop or app. This solution commits perfectly to the “carbon free” policy of e-cars, because it gives us the opportunity of lessening the intervention on site and thus the greenhouse gas emissions, as well as of optimizing the whole process of upkeep.
In Trieben, Austria, you will find our self-cleaning CIAO HP toilet at the Energie Steiermark Kunden Charging Station, with a disabled-accessible room and a 4-station urinal. The toilet is open 24 hours a day, and is automatically sanitized after each use, even in the urinal room. It is a completely ‘no-touch’ toilet, with automatic dispensers that allow us to avoid wasting soap, water or toilet paper. The toilet is fire-safe class zero and the sliding door is CE certified and tested for 1,000,000 uses.
What we have now is just a pilot project, but we hope that it’s going to be a new beginning leading to the enhancement of the availability of the charging stations, warrantying a high-quality user experience.
